Susan Maxwell Skinner is active in the community. She has served as a leader for the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce and worked for many of its projects.

Her volunteer work was recognized by an award from the Kiwanis in 2002. Believing that a strong local newspapers define and strengthen communities, the writer donates hundreds of hours per year to reporting local events for the Arden-Carmichael News. Susan is also a popular singer with the John Skinner band.

Susan gets Citizen of the Year award from Kiwanis, for service as honorary president of the Carmichael Chamber of Commerce.

Garbage Cleanup part of the President's job
A Carmichael community garbage cleanup was all part of the president's job.
     
 
A singer with husband John Skinner's band, Susan does many public performances, including park concerts in the Sacramento area.   Susan's "Beautiful Carmichael" painting was used as a fundraising poster by the Chamber of Commerce.
